The Accidental Backyard Gardener

Hi, I am Mark Kurtz and I thought I would share my adventures in gardening.

In 2023 I had a surgery that left me laid up for a couple of months. The first month of recovery I couldn’t really do anything but by month two I was feeling better, but really bored. I decided to start baking beer bread because it was easy for me to do, and who doesn’t like fresh bread?

As part of the process of baking bread I started adding fruits to my beers: raspberries, blueberries, and peaches mainly. As I was going through this process it dawned on me that I should consider growing my own fruit. That way I could have fresh berries. So I bought a couple blueberry plants. This seemed like a fun thing to do, and keep me busy.

And that is how I became “The Accidental Backyard Gardener“.
