More strawberry plants

6-21-2024

Since the blueberries in the raised bed didn’t survive but the existing strawberry was thriving, I pulled the blueberries and added two more strawberry plants.

My local nursery had several varieties to choose from and I decided on Tristan ever-bearing. They already have their first crop on them!

I bought some plastic stands to support the berries and keep them off the dirt.

I just pulled the blueberries out and dropped the strawberries in. I also removed the Marigold since they were going to be in the way, but I left the chive.

They just need to be caged to keep the birds out and I am done and waiting to harvest!

I replaced my tomato tower cages with a bigger one-piece cover. The tomato cages were just a bit much to deal with, having to remove each one individually, so I made a pvc frame and covered it with plastic garden fence.

The pvc cage is light-weight and provides coverage for all of the plants at the same time, versus 3 individual covers.
