Mums

August, 2024

Fall is coming and that means MUMS! Rather than just leave them in the store-bought pots I wanted to plant them in one of my raised beds, with the goal of having them last all Fall and then Winter-over and come back to life in the Spring.

We will see how that plan goes. I started with 3 hardy mums.

3 starter mums

Then we added some smaller Mums that we found on clearance. Hey, why not? We want a full bed.

This is a couple of weeks later. Did some dead-heading earlier and the Mums loved it.

We dead-headed them a couple more times and they really responded well and kept blooming. With the warm weather we had lasting into November they just kept growing.

I did not trim them back once the hard freezes came. I will do that in early Spring and see how they fare throughout the year.
